Community Improvements At Pen Y Bryn

We are so excited about the support and belief that we have been given by the Herefordshire County Council and Talk Community enabling us to become a real community hub. As the summer comes to an end the hard work and perseverance is paying off and we are nearing completion on the projects that will multiply the number of community visitors we can welcome and help. With the financial support of Herefordshire County Council and Talk Community we have been able to acquire an all-terrain wheelchair, an outside compostable toilet, matting and gravel for pathways, and a spacious greenhouse. These things are making the sanctuary far more accessible and the greenhouse will act as a multi-purpose building – not only will it help us to grow more food for the animals but it will be a learning centre, a chill out area for volunteers and visitors, and an opportunity for visitors of all ages to get themselves involved in planting and growing for the sanctuary.

Whilst the county grants helped considerably with costs, none of this could have been done without the financial and physical support of volunteers and supporters who likewise have shown such faith in what we are trying to achieve.

A huge thank you must particularly go out to Jason Lloyd and his team at J Lloyd Property Solutions who constantly went the extra mile to get this project finished on time.

At the beginning of the year we were averaging about 30 communityvisitors a month, we have now more than doubled that and by the end of the year we are looking at averaging over 100.
